"Well, I hope the hell you speak English," Nick said. "I cant make
any sense from these crazy women. Who are you and whats going on here?"
The chief looked Nick over from head to foot then walked around him, grunted, and felt
the Indian head emblem on the back of Nicks jacket. He rubbed at it, hard, then
pulled at the seams.
"Look, damnit! Ive had about as much of this crap as I can stand. I

THE RETURN
In 1945, five TBM Avengers, Navy Bombers, left the Naval Air Station, Fort Lauderdale,
Fl. Five officers and nine enlisted men never returned and an extensive sea and air search
produced no wreckage or survivors. In 1998 the five TBM Avengers return to the Navy base;
as far as the crewmen are concerned, just over three hours have passed since they left.
Confused at what they see, they land and are arrested for bringing bombs and loaded
machineguns to what is now the Fort Lauderdale International Airport. No one believes
their story at first, but with early Navy identification and then a record check of
missing military personnel, the truth begins to unfold. Office of Naval Intelligence and
the FBI enter the picture. Navy doctors see a chance to do research on men that appear to
be young but should be in their seventies. Some escape, some are killed, all wanting to
find wives, parents and friends, not believing they are all old in age and most have died.

It took Lt. Simmons a minute to gather his thoughts. "This is Flight Leader, come
in Flight Nineteen." Getting no response, his stomach muscles twisted into a tight
knot and a marble-size lump lodged in his throat. It felt like his plane had stopped
moving through the cloud and was suspended in the air, like a toy hanging from a rope.
"Thats crazy!" he whispered. "How in the hell can a plane not be
moving, just floating in a cloud?"
