Lockehill Sabrina Fair is pregnant!

Ch Stonerhaven Samurai x Lockehill Careless Love

Sabrina, shown here as a twenty month old youngster has been bred for a Spring 2009 litter. The sire is Ch Atwater Honorably Chosen. Pups are due December 5th and some will be available in February 09.

I will be showing Gabby and Layla this Fall (2008) both of whom are Daisy daughters. My Ch Summer daughter Jasmine will be starting out next Spring. They have finally matured into nice show girls.

These are the two "keepers" from my last Alexus litter born 2008.

On the left is Charity a stunning blue eyed merle and on the right is Faith my tricolor girl.

Alas, Charity was going to be too big and is now in a pet home. Faith is still in the running as a show prospect and I have her here...time will tell.

Ch Stonerhaven Samurai x Lockehill Dedicated to Love, CGC (born 1/28/07)

Gabby and Gwendolyn are Daisy daughters that I co-bred with Barbara Wright of Chosen Shelties. Daisy is litter sister to Ch Lockehill Chosen Delight.

Gwendolyn took a growth spurt and was placed but Gabby is still looking promising for a show pup. The rest of the pups have already gone to their new homes.

Ch Kismet's Zarak x Lockehill Bella Alexus (born 1/28/07)

These beauties are Alexus' two bi-black daughters by Ch Kismet Zarak.
The bi-color with the white face, Lockehill Bella Jubilee and her sister Lockehill Stellaluna went to Sheryl and Danny Kendrick as a show prospects.

Alexus has new litter of eight pups by Champion Bronwyn Suspicious (a Ch Trevanne's Windswept son) born March 18, 2008, however they were all taken very quickly and none are available now.

The Current Lockehill Crew

I could not resist this picture of my girls. My son-in-law, Hugh snapped this photo of the girls watching me. They all need a bath and a trim but you can see the "Lockehill" face in all of them. Cindy who is second from the right is available for a retirement home.

Left to right they are Layla, Gabby, Jasmine, Sabrina, Cindy and Lovey. Missing from the photo are Lottie my matriarch and Faith the youngster.

Lockehill Justwanta Have Fun "Cindy"

Ch Kismet Atwater Amir x BISS Ch Lockehill Belle Dela Noche

Cindy is available for retirement home!

Cindy, shown here as a teenager is now five years old and in need of a retirement home. She runs freely with all my dogs so should get along with other animals but would be more reliable in the house if she had a pet door.

She has had three litters and that is my maximun and is deserving of a life of retirement. She got her name because she likes to entertain herself and the others and any food container must be secure as she is very smart and crafty. It is like my other girls say "hey Cindy can you get into this one, we need a snack"

Int Ch Caviar Whose Your Daddy

Ch Simmore Master Plan x Caviar Spun Gold

Babe is the newest addition to Lockehill. Thank you Elicia Stevens of Caviar Shelties for allowing me to purchase Babe who goes back to my original roots.

Molly, my foundation, was a double granddaughter of Ch Stonehill Double Trouble. Babe is a "Trouble" greatgrandaughter. Babe also is a Dustin daughter as is my Lovey, so both Babe's sire and dam are found in the pedigree of my Lockehill girls.

The Lottie x Hershey Litter
From left are Abby, Lauren, Ch Kahlua
and Bobby.

PleaseNote: If you decide to shop all those "find a pet" websites that are popping up on line, do not believe everything you see. I had this photo of my litter taken and used to market petmill puppies for a broker. When you see an exceptional sheltie marketed in the "newspaper on line" it is most probably a lie, pure and simple. Check them out!

Now for my moment on the soap box!

I am sure the sheltie on the left is much loved but her lack of quality shows!!!   Select your breeder carefully.

We all produce the less than perfect sheltie sometimes but with a quality breeder it is the exception not the rule!
A sheltie is a long time commitment, look for the kennel that breeds to the Shetland Sheepdog Standard.
Select a breeder who demands you spay/neuter your "pet" sheltie and never agree to a "puppy back arrangement".
Ask yourself should I breed my sheltie, don't take it lightly! You should be given a full health and temperament guarantee on your pup, don't accept less!  Get references and CHECK THEM!  Don't find yourself supporting a "pet mill" breeder where volume is more important than quality!  Beware the kennel with multiple breeds!

The sheltie on the right is what you are looking for!  A soft sweet Sheltie expression, correct ears, lovely eyes, correct lush standoff coat. The whole sheltie is pretty to look at plus she has a lovely temperament to go with it!

Don't be in a rush to buy your puppy, select carefully.  Don't buy from a volume breeder because you feel sorry for the puppy, you just encouraged him to breed again.  Hey! the price is right but think about spreading it out over twelve to fifteen years!  A good sheltie costs more to begin with but the maintenance is the same (except you will probably have fewer vet bills).  Look for a breeder who's first interest is improvement of the breed!  The more questions the breeder asks of you the better.  It is just as important to the breeder that YOU are a good home!

Give the rescues a break....think!
