Church Conference
The
annual Church Conference for the Belmont & Monthalia
Churches was held on October 23rd at the Monthalia
UMC. Approved at the conference were the 2007 budget for the two churches as
well as the slate of officers and committee members for the churches. The
listing of officers and committee members is included in this newsletter.
"Thank you" to all who have agreed to serve either as an officer or
chairperson/member of a committee. You are appreciated!

Annual Community Thanksgiving
Supper
The
annual Thanksgiving Community Supper, held on November 4th was enjoyed by many
in the community. The supper was again a coordinated event between the Church
and the Belmont Ladies Club. A big thank you to everyone who helped make the supper such a success.

Christmas Gift Bags
Every
year we remember our shut-ins in the community with a gift bag filled with all
kinds of goodies. Last year there were 18 gift bags delivered to individuals in
the community. We are now taking requests for the Christmas gift bags to be
prepared on December 18th and delivered shortly thereafter. Please let Connie
Bond, Kathy Collins, Shirley Dozier or Wes Wessling
know of friends who should be remembered. Please also note if the recipient is
a diabetic. Items for the gift bags and monetary donations for this outreach
ministry are greatly appreciated. A listing of the items to be included in the
bags is posted on the bulletin board at church. Some examples of the items
listed are: Kleenex, calendars, emery boards, hand cream, shampoo, etc. If you
would like to donate any of these items, please either indicate on the listing
what you will donate or contact one of the above individuals so that duplicates
will not be made. Thank you in advance for helping us fill
these bags to the brim!

New Church Sign
The
administrative Council has set up a Committee to evaluate a new sign for the
church. We all have noticed church signs with interesting messages during our
busy travels. A changeable message sign would announce the meeting time and
contact phone number for people considering attending our church and could be a
ministry to the community as well. Christian messages can be thought-provoking
or witty, but all are a way to draw attention to God's word and his church. The
sign can also provide a community service by announcing important community
events. The signs being considered are from the UMC endorsed company. A 4' x 8'
sign has three lines and a 5' x 8'sign has 4 lines (one for church info). The
sign would be lighted and is guaranteed for workmanship as long as the church
remains in this location. Similar signs may be seen at First UMC in Luling and at the schools in Gonzales. If you have any
questions or comments, please contact one of the Committee members. They are
Ellen Wundt, Kenneth Schauer
and Clayton Lee. All information will be presented to the Trustees since this
is a considerable investment and may require some site preparation. Hopefully,
we will have a new sign to draw attention to God's House early in 2007.
