Backup Power Information Notice
If your home phone service is on our fiber network, it requires electric power to operate. To maintain the ability to connect to 911 services, GVTC/GVCS offers battery backup option(s).
Where to Obtain Your Battery Backup
Optional backup batteries are available for purchase from GVTC/GVCS. If you want to purchase a backup battery, stop by our business office or call 1-800-367-4882. The 8-hour batteries cost approximately $15. Backup batteries from GVTC/GVCS are guaranteed to be compatible with your equipment. Battery installation by our technician is available for a modest fee, or you can do it yourself.
What Your Backup Battery Can – and Can't – Do for You
The battery offered by GVTC/GVCS is about 8 pounds and the size of a child's juice box. A single battery should provide 8 hours of standby service (or about 4-5 hours of actual talk time). Extended standby/usage time is available by purchasing the 24 hour stand by option (pricing varies).
NOTE: Backup batteries only provide voice services. Other services (monitoring, security, internet) will not operate on the backup battery.
Instructions for Proper Care and Use of Your Battery
Backup batteries are rechargeable and should be replaced every year or when your device makes a beeping sound indicating the end of the battery life. Please follow the more detailed instructions included with your battery for proper use, storage and care of your battery including periodically removing and testing your battery for operational use and condition.
