Robert (Rob) Baron has served on the GVTC Board as Director of District I for 10 years, holding positions on both the Governance Committee and the Long Range Planning Committee. Mr. Baron’s technical background and professional experience make him a valuable contributor to the success of GVTC.
Mr. Baron is now a retired engineering professional. His experience includes 7 years at Texas Instruments Inc. designing integrated circuits and 25 years at Lockheed Martin working as a Contributing Engineer, Project Lead, and Engineering Manager in support of NASA at the Johnson Space Center. Mr. Baron’s projects involved a variety of communications technologies including voice and telemetry processing, digital signal processing, local area networks, control systems, and fiber optics. He received the Space Flight Awareness Award from NASA for contributions to the Space Shuttle program.
He is a longtime member of the Canyon Lake Noon Lions Club and a recipient of the Melvin Jones award. Currently, he serves on the Mystic Shores POA Maintenance Committee, is a Comal Master Gardener, and is a member of the Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Baron and his wife, Patricia, reside in Spring Branch, Texas. They have one son and one granddaughter. They are members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Canyon Lake.
Mr. Baron holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Houston and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
