Rita P. Wenthold, CPA, and Russell, her husband of 33 years, moved to San Antonio from Germany 30 years ago for his final duty station with the Electronic Security Command before he retired from the U.S. Air Force to work in computer security. They built their home in Fair Oaks Ranch, Kendall County, in 2006 and have since been loyal GVTC District III Members.
Achieving her BBA - Accounting, Magna Cum Laude at UTSA in 1990, mid-career at H-E-B headquarters in 1995 while an Assistant Controller, Rita earned her MBA from the University of Texas- Austin, after which she managed brand development. Recruited to Clarke American (now Harland Clarke Holdings) to develop strategic supplier relationship management, she supervised win-win negotiations, contracting, and purchasing controls. While writing submission documentation to earn their Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, Rita assessed personnel and trained to achieve strategic alignment. She retired after fifteen years from Procurement as Executive Director.
Rita owns a small tax practice. She’s helped build from the ground up great customer service at H-E-B and Harland Clarke Holdings, working in multiple facets of strategic executive management. She’s Treasurer of DMEHOA and currently serves on professional boards in San Antonio: Terms as President, Treasurer, Director of Membership and Education at the Institute for Supply Management (ISM); and founding President of the San Antonio Chapter Global Business Travel Association five years ago. Rita’s excited to offer her experience and enthusiasm to work with this great GVTC Board to achieve its vision and mission.
